Building Respectful and Collaborative Relationships

Indigenous Liaisons

At the heart of our Indigenous Relations Division are our Indigenous Liaisons—individuals dedicated to fostering meaningful, respectful relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. Their role is vital in bridging understanding, promoting transparency, and ensuring that development aligns with community values.

Indigenous Liaisons work closely with community members to gain a deep understanding of traditional and sacred lands. Through open dialogue and consultation, they help identify areas of cultural significance and advise our teams on where development can proceed—and, more importantly, where it must not.

By listening first and acting with respect, we strive to ensure that all operations are carried out in a way that honors Indigenous knowledge, rights, and stewardship of the land.

Treaty 6 Acknowledgement

We at Western Métis Services acknowledge that we are on Treaty 6 Territory, a traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route to the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.
